The Birthlands have a very ancient history and ruins of civilizations of the past are haunting the whole territory. One of the most impressive sight is that of the stranded bird. The stranded bird is an antique giant airship that can be seen on the west coast of the Korveda country. The ship strangely resembles a korvedan head with its beak-like shape and the wide glass windows shaped like their round black eyes. According to Korvedan historians, their people came to this world about a hundred centuries ago aboard this ship. Their arrival was recorded in our history as the « god fall. » It is said that our ancestral capital of Nimbaal was set ablaze in an instant on that day as a punishment for their devious ways. Communication with the korvedan is difficult as maybe only a tenth of their language can be correctly conveyed in ours. Many of their concepts are absolutely foreign and unintelligible to most of us. The rest of it can only be understood by the gods themselves. From my understanding though, the korvedan came from a far away world called Mirikwe. They translate the name of their home world in our language as Arstotu, the « blue land.» The korvedan are wise mages with the ability to make unbelievable miracles. They can heal people from most diseases, and they can even replace one’s limbs with magic iron that one can move with the mind. They can somehow alchemically transform the Dolfaru, a « green stone » they send us to collect to create flying ships that can cross the entire country in a few hours when it would take any of us several days on very fast mount. However, I prefer to stay away from their alchemy as miners and villagers living close to their abandoned facilities die young of a strange disease that makes the flesh rot…
